My teen forgets everything! Is it just a phase or do they need brain nutrition?

Rohan’s Story: From Forgetfulness to Focus

Rohan was 15, a bright student who loved cricket and video games. But his parents noticed something troubling—he was forgetting things all the time. He misplaced his books, left homework incomplete, and even forgot important dates like his mother’s birthday. At first, his parents thought it was just a “teenage phase.” After all, every teenager seems a little absent-minded.

But as exams approached, his forgetfulness began affecting his studies. He often stayed up late scrolling on his phone, barely sleeping 5–6 hours a night. Stress from competitive classes and endless assignments made it worse. His mother also realized that Rohan’s meals often lacked variety—he skipped breakfast, disliked fish, and mostly survived on bread, noodles, and fast food.

When they consulted their pediatrician, he explained something important: Rohan’s brain was still developing, especially the prefrontal cortex—the part responsible for memory, focus, and planning. Lack of sleep, stress, and missing nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids and B vitamins were directly affecting his memory.

The doctor suggested small lifestyle changes: a fixed bedtime, daily outdoor play, and mindful breathing exercises to reduce stress. He also recommended adding brain-friendly foods like nuts, seeds, eggs, and greens into Rohan’s meals. Since he refused fish, his parents introduced a phosphatidylserine supplement — a nutrient proven to support memory and reduce stress.

Within a few months, they noticed a difference. Rohan was calmer, more organized, and even started reminding his parents about small things they forgot! His focus improved, and he felt more confident in class.
